A ministry of help and hope for single moms
Single moms need the opportunity to communicate and feel support from others struggling in the same way. They are often overwhelmed with financial and parenting issues, even exhausted and lacking the time to feed their own souls with the Word of God and prayer. Many times single moms lack mentoring.
With a strong desire to provide a loving, supportive and instructional environment for single moms who are divorced, never married, or widowed - Living Hope extends the transforming presence of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ into the lives of single moms and their children in our church and community.
This fall our study will make use of the resource - The 21 Principles of a Healthy Single Mom. These Bible-based principles encourage single moms to flourish in the midst of their overwhelming circumstances; leading them to a life of Purpose and Meaning, Focus and Order, Balance and Harmony.
* Weekly meetings involving a study of God's Word to receive practical help for a single mom.
* Prayer support, sharing and encouragement for women raising children alone.
* Directional focus to the Lord Jesus Christ - understanding His completeness and sufficiency for all spiritual, emotional and physical needs.
* Dealing with the practical issues of women who are working and supporting themselves.
* Involvement in a specific area of service to others.
* Mentoring as desired from women who have been single moms.
"I will forever be grateful to God for the instruction, help and encouragement I received as part of this Single Moms group. I was sinking fast when first attending, but learned I was not alone. With your help my self-worth became grounded in my position in Christ and I was able to face the future with anticipation instead of dread. My life was not over, rather God has used me as a nurse in short term missions. Both of my daughters are also in missions and I cannot thank you enough for the lifeline during my time of crises and deep need. God gave me His hope through you."
Living Hope will be lead by Julie DeKorte, along with others on her leadership team from our church. Julie was suddenly thrust into the role of a single mom of three with the death of her husband at a young age. As time went on she felt the increased isolation from the mainstream of the church and found it difficult to fit in. After getting together other single moms, she discovered she was not alone - many believed themselves to be unfit, rejected or judged. As a result, Julie was led to begin a ministry of help and hope to single moms, and has been doing so for the past 28 years.
Pre-registration for Living Hope Ministry is not necessary.
