"I have had my questions about the meaning of life answered." Victoria's "Faith Story" I grew up in a religious and moral home. My family attended church every Sunday, even when we were on vacation. But there was no life or joy, just duty in what we did. I remember always believing in God, but when I was about 13 years old I began thinking about God, wondering who He was. I was beginning to discover who I was and had questions about the meaning of life and how I fit into the big picture. But, even though I thought about this I never verbalized it to anyone. And the church did not answer any of the questions I had. When I was 17, my senior year in high school, there was a new club that started. It was called Campus Life, Youth for Christ. They met in homes and had lots of fun. Some of my friends and I starting attending the meetings for the food, games and music. But every week one of the adult leaders would talk about God for 10 15 minutes. After listening for several weeks I realized that he spoke about God like he really knew Him. And that was something that I had been seeking through my junior and senior high school years. So I listened and carefully watched the "Christians". They really seemed to love one another and had a joy and attitude about life that was different than my other friends. So after about 3 months of listening to talks about God and Jesus and what He did for me by dying on the cross, I realized that my religious and moral upbringing were not enough to know God. I was just going through the motions. And those motions did not help me to have peace with God or answer my questions. I realized that I wanted to know God like these people did. I also wanted forgiveness for my sins. So one evening after the meeting I asked one of the girls to help me find Jesus, like she had. So I prayed with her and asked Jesus to forgive my sins and become the leader of my life. Since then I have come to know God in a personal way through Jesus Christ. I have had my questions about the meaning of life answered and have been given a new joy and attitude about my reason for existing. Over the years I have seen God answer prayers, have experienced joy even in the midst of trials and difficulties, have seen other friends and family seek God and find Him, and have been changed from the inside out by my relationship with Jesus Christ. It has been extremely fulfilling and exciting following Jesus and has become the Greatest Adventure of My Life. Jesus himself said in John 10:10,"I have come to give you life and life more abundantly." And that is what He truly did in my life. |
