Updated 5/8/08...

* Pray for Bill & Flossie Battishill (retired) as Bill deals with some health issues. His doctor has been watching an aneurysm in his chest for several years and recent tests have indicated a couple more have appeared and the original seems to be growing. Surgery has been discussed, but because the risks are significant the decision was made to wait and see what the next CT scan in July will show. Pray for wisdom for the doctors as they determine the best course of action. Send a note of encouragement to: billbattishill@juno.com.

* Scott & Lorna Muha (TEAM in Caracas) are thankful to be in a new apartment and making it feel like home—at least until they have to leave and conclude their ministry in Caracas in June, 2009. Pray for results from an evangelistic outreach they had last Saturday where 1,000 fliers were passed out at the neighborhood walking track near the mall. They hope to have 100 visitors this Sunday in a service honoring moms with a brunch afterwards. Pray that God will do mighty things during these weeks and many will find the hope that they are looking for. Continue praying for Addie who has good days and bad days.

* Pray for Brad & Vi Mugg (WorldVenture in Mali) as they leave June 10th for the states. After 23 years with the mission, they feel a strong sense that God is bringing them back to the U.S. in order to re-connect with their adult children, their families and culture. Pray for the transition as they leave friends and colleagues in Mali and Cote d’Ivoire and retire from WorldVenture Sept. 30th. They are hoping that their unbelieving friends come to faith, even before they leave in June. Pray for job searches once Brad & Vi get home and settle in Colorado.

* Pray for Kirk & Laura Slater (WorldVenture in Uganda). Pray for Kirk as he leaves this Sat. to return to the U.S. for 2 months to continue work on his study program. Pray that he stays focused and disciplined as he works in South Carolina on his dissertation. Pray for Laura as she is in Kabale alone with the 4 boys—for good health and strength, patience and protection both spiritually and physically.

* T. & L. S. (Central Asia) are thankful that son, Stephen (with visual memory disability), is doing well off his medication as well as with the new teacher he has, and how the school is working well to teach to his strengths.

* Pray for Rick & Christy Gascho (transitioning from GEM to Pioneers). After many months of seeking council with church leadership, GEM and Pioneers, the Gaschos will be changing mission agencies as they return to the Czech Republic hopefully in mid-August. Pray for this transition for the family as the kids finish up with school at SCS and for Rick as he makes a trip next week to the Czech to coordinate projects and the framework to return with the family. If you have not yet met this delightful family, they are staying in the mission apts. (# 2).

* Pray for N. & S. G. (Asia) as they frequently battle one health issue or another. They have recently been able transport an elderly man from an isolated valley into the 21st century for cataract surgery; take a 5 year old boy with an extremely distended stomach from a small village to a hospital for care; and fly an old man back to his home village where his son had recently died from a snake bite. God has miraculously provided aircraft in the last couple of years to enable these types of scenarios. There is a great need for 2 more – please pray to this end. Pray that they would see God’s divine interruptions as the golden opportunities that they are. They are thankful that the family will be able to join N. for a month this summer at JAARS as he provides flight training to a pilot from a mission working in Mexico.
