SALT IndiaA Partnership between OM India and Highland Park Baptist Church HPBC and OM India initiated a three-year partnership beginning in 2007. Our objective is to come alongside OM India by providing expertise, personnel, and finances to help OM India reach the least evangelized people of the country and establish strong Biblical churches. We recognize that Indian believers have much to teach us about faith in Christ and we desire to learn from them those lessons which Christ may teach. We desire to mobilize and energize the church for outreach to the lost, both in our own neighborhoods and around the world. SALT India prioritizes the establishment and growth of the Good Shepherd Churches which are in association with OM India. It has three primary components: pastors training seminars, women’s training, and targeted teaching in formal ministry training schools. Pastor’s Seminars We will facilitate one 5-day seminars for pastors, with the first one projected for October 8-13, 2007. A team of 10-15 men who have a solid Biblical background and sufficient teaching experience will be needed for this trip. The curriculum has been designed by OM India. It features basic Biblical and Church ministry training. Women’s Training We plan to send a Women's Team to help OM India develop a women’s ministry within the Good Shepherd Churches. The Women’s Team will consist of HPBC Women who have ministry experience at HPBC. They will hold seminars with pastors’ wives and women’s leaders. Topics will include: Bible, marriage and family, health and hygiene, care of children, and sewing. They may also become involved in women’s empowerment training such as self-help groups which develop self-esteem and a sense of the dignity of labor. Targeted Teaching in Formal Ministry Training Schools HPBC will seek to send pastors and church members who would be qualified to teach Bible at a masters level at the Asian College of Cultural Studies (Hyderabad). HPBC would also send out members who are qualified teachers for specialized classes at the OM Teacher Training College in Hyderabad. These teachers would travel one or two at a time to educate future teachers in specialized areas such as special education, art, and linguistics. |
