The Men's Ministry of HPBC has this primary goal: to see all men growing in Christ through discipling relationships. This is accomplished under the leadership of our Men's Ministry Team, who meet on a regular basis to pray, plan, and strategize for meaningful ways to engage men in vital relationship with God, with His Word, and with other men.

Men's Events

Men's Bible Study
Becoming A Man of Character
Studies in the lives of Jacob, Joshua, & Elijah
6:30 - 7:30 am
Teacher: Dave Borror
Location: E Fellowship Hall

Through the lives of these men in the Old Testament, we learn what it means to be inspired by God, developing in faith, and achieving godly greatness in the face of trials, frustrations, and failures.

Joshua, the dynamic leader in the nation of Israel, is our focus for the winter weeks of 2008. Standing tall and strong as a man of mighty character, Joshua is set apart as an example of fearlessness and godliness. His biography is fast moving, filled with adventure, spiritual insight, with applications to the challenges men face in today.

Our early morning Tuesday Bible study combines Bible teaching together with interactive small group discussions, as we learn together as men to put the truth of God's Word into day-to-day living.

Experiencing God's Attributes
Pursuing God with Your Whole Heart, Mind, and Soul
Wednesday Evening
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Beginning January 23, 2008
Teacher/Discussion Leader: Mike Thomas
Location: Church Library

Knowing God is more than just accumulating facts about Him. To know God is to understand Him and experience Him daily in worship, dependence, and obedience. It is finding Him adequate for every need. To know God is to experience His attributes, His greatness, power, compassion, forgiveness, and generosity and begin to know Him with your heart, soul, and mind.

Who is God to you? It's an important question because a balanced understanding of what He is like centers your spiritual walk. Truly knowing God provides an unshakable foundation for living and for serving Him effectively. By clearing up misconceptions, you'll see God as He really is.

Participation in this study will involve time outside of the group discussions to prepare -by reading the prescribed Scriptural passages, and responding to the questions in the study guide, Experiencing God's Attributes by Warren and Ruth Myers. Guides will be available for $8 each.

Discipleship Groups for men meet at various times throughout the week, providing opportunities for men to grow spiritually through community, encouragement, support and accountability in a confidential, non-threatening environment.

Prayer Gatherings are a regular part of the Men's ministry agenda, providing scheduled monthly Saturday morning half Day of Prayer; and meeting every Tuesday morning during the summer months for an hour of prayer together.

Service projects provide a tangible outlet for serving others, so our Men's Ministry team plans for two specific Saturday work projects throughout the year. Every other year there is an all-church Men's Retreat. Additionally, each year the men host an Outreach Breakfast featuring a popular speaker and/or athlete who has the ability to clearly present the gospel to men and boys.
